Cup

ca.1979 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The sides of the cups are almost straight, everything slightly at the base and turning in again underneath. The handles are formed as a continuation of part of the side, which curves up and back to join the middle of the side. The almost clear glaze covers all of the cups except the bases, which are impressed with a cloth texture, as is the lowest part of the sides. The sides are made up of oatmeal-coloured clay alternating with alternately thick and thin stripes of brown clay. The base is similarly made up, except that the stripes are straight and not diagonal.
All the pieces are stamped with a square Yuu (short for Yuusuke).
