Bowl and Lid

Place of origin

Bowl with rounded rising sides to which are attached a series of eight projecting rings, and everted lip; straight foot with broad rim and small base. The lid is domed with central knob and eight drop-shaped openwork incisions. The sides of the bowl are decorated with incised designs, comprising a border of artemisia leaves round the foot, and one of ruyi heads below the rim, while the lid bears a triangular lappet band round the edge and ruyi border round the central knob. The piece is covered all over except the foot and the rim of the lid with a fine pale blue glaze.
