Cup, porcelain, with rounded spreading sides and wavy rim, and within the lip a double wavy line band in relief flanked by a cell border and frieze, assembling a variety of disparate elements. Painted in underglaze blue and enamels with the arms of Meares impaling Doore. On one side is the shield of arms, Or a ship with three masts' sails furled and shrouded sable; impaling Doore, Per pale gules and azure three gadflies or. Above the shield are the initials 'C.M.' and on the reverse of cups is the crest, A kingfisher proper and motto 'Cave'.
