Plate of porcelain, painted in black enamel and gilt, with the scene of 'The Nativity'. The plate is shallow and has a slightly tilted rim. It is painted en grisaille with a 'Nativity' scene after a European print. Adoring figures surround the manger which stands on the ground among small shrubs; a donkey lies in the foreground. On the rim is a frieze of scrollwork entwined with flowers and fillets.
