Bowl of porcelain, decorated in famille rose style with coloured enamels and gilded. Circular; flat, sharply out-turned, eight-lobed rim. Painted outside with cocks, peonies and chrysanthemums, in eight panels, above a scalloped border of Y-diaper in gold, dark red and black; above, an inner border of foliage, flowers and fruit, green, pink, white, yellow and blue, and an outer border pink lozenge-diaper; inside, a border of pale blue bands marked with red cloud scrolls, twisted into the outline of ruyi heads curled round a band of lozenge-diaper in black and white, and enclosing pink cell-diaper.
