Plate

1975-1985 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Plaque of flat form slightly upturned at the rim. The footring, which is stepped on the inner edge, is bored with three holes so that the plate can be hung up. It is thus more of a decorative plaque than a true plate. Made of very thick, grey-white porcelain, it bears no kiln-mark on the base.

On the front surface is a photographically-realistic painting of a small Chinese girl. She has a pink bow in her short hair, is wearing a patterned yellow shirt under a thick woollen jumper, and a bib. On the lower right of her bib is a small inscription in red: 'Wu Kan hua' (painted by Wu Kang).
