Painting, in opaque watercolour and gold on paper, the prince Salim clad in a gold ground jama spears the rump of a lioness attacking the elephant on which he rides. An attendant seated behind him shoots at the lioness with an arrow shot from a red bow. A second attendant on foot next to the elephant rushes forward brandishing a sword, holding a shield. The prince, his attendants and the textile coverings of the elephant are all fully coloured; the rest of the scene is lightly painted in pale ochre and green. The clothes of the prince, and the ornaments of all the human figures and the elephant are painted gold.
