A PRINCE LISTENING TO MUSIC Opaque watercolour and silver paint on paper Murshidabad, Bengal 1760-70 IS.19-1958 This courtly scene is identified by an inscription on the reverse as an illustration to the musical mode Kedara ragini. In Bengal, this ragini is depicted as a prince listening to music, rather than the more widespread image of a prince visiting an ascetic.(27/9/2013)
