Sennins are immortals who have reached immortality through meditation, ascetic practice, and the following of Taoist teachings which endowed them with wonderful magic powers. Kume no Sennin had the power of walking in the clouds, but he lost his divinity to earthly pleasure when he was captivated by the bare legs of woman who was washing clothes by the river. In the picture Kume no Sennin is falling from the sky, yet his eyes are still fixed onto the pretty woman.
