Woodblock print, Japanese, 2-sheet, by Utagawa Kunihiro (fl.c.1815-43), showing a scene from the play: Daigashira Midori no Iromaku performed at the Naka Theatre, Osaka in March 1834. The actor Arashi Rikan II plays Akaneya Hanshichi (in the boat) and Iwai Shijaku I as the courtesan Minoya Sankatsu. The play concerns a domestic tragedy involving a man who has left his wife for a courtesan. This scene shows them starting off on a boat journey towards a double suicide.; Pap, Japan, prints
