Design for dancers in the Royalty Folies, showing two full length figures, to the left, a figure in a long sleeved jumper cropped to reveal the midriff, the jumper patterned in horizontal stripes in blue and yellow, flared hipster trousers in lime green, the legs three quarter length. the hems scalloped, the lower legs randomly patterned with spots in orange, apricot and blue, a wide, blue, buckled belt, pink bracelet length gloves, turquoise lace up shoes, an orange hat with a 'bowler' crown and a brim upstanding to the sides with a blue, buckled band, decorated with a large orange-centred, blue flower on an extended 'stalk', the hat worn over a headscarf patterned all over with pink spots edged in yellow, and large pink loop earrings. To the right, a figure in an apricot bikini top with thin blue straps to give a halter neck, an apricot half skirt to the back lined with white 'lace', orange mid calf length boots, copious bangles, blue bracelet length gloves, and a similar hat in blue with a orange ribbon hatband tied in a bow to the front and two large orange flowers on 'stalks', each wirh a yellow centre, the hat worn over an apricot striped scarf, and blue loop earrings. The background is painted in grey-brown gouache. The whole is framed within a rectangle drawn in ink, The design is signed and dated and on the reverse is inscribed with the name of the production and the characters.

This is one of a collection of designs for pantomime and cabaret, given to the Theatre Museum by the designer, Cynthia Tingey, who created the costumes for 15 of the annual London Palladium pantomimes. This design was made for Paul Raymond's Royalty Folies, Royalty Theatre,18 March 1974.

Historical significance: An example of cabaret costume design of the second half of the 20th century and of the work of a designer who specialised in pantomime and variety design.
