Design for dancers in the Morecambe and Wise Show, showing three full length figures, to the left, a female figure in a man's tail coat with a large white flower buttonhole, a white wing collared shirt, a black bow tie and a grey and white horizontally striped waistcoat, with black knickers and a black top hat, to the centre, a male figure in evening dress with a similar tail coat and shirt, an orange waistcoat spotted in white, black trousers and a black top hat, and, to the right, a female figure in a low cut, sleeveless 'leotard' with 'jewelled' decoration to the neck and hem and orange 'feathers' to the back, orange full length gloves, an elaborate necklace of white 'jewels' and a headdress with sweeping orange feathers to each side and white spangles. The background is painted in brown gouache. The design is signed and dated and on the reverse is inscribed with the name of the production and the location.

Object history
This is one of a collection of designs for pantomime and cabaret, given to the Theatre Museum by the designer, Cynthia Tingey, who created the costumes for 15 of the annual London Palladium pantomimes. This design was made for the Morecambe and Wise Show in Blackpool, in 1965.

Historical significance: An example of cabaret costume design of the second half of the 20th century and of the work of a designer who specialised in pantomime and variety design.
