Set of Consecration Drawings 1450–1600 These drawings were discovered inside the Buddha Shakyamuni (12). The majority are drawn in a Nepalese style. However, the single larger one was executed by a Tibetan in a looser style. Others (not shown) depict the lineage of the Black Hat order of Tibetan Buddhism, showing that at some stage the Buddha was worshipped in Tibet. Object history
This is a characteristic of some Nepalese drawings and paintings. The asymmmerical decoration is almost identical with Wall painting in Alchi monstery, Ladhak dating possibly 15th century. Collection of Tibetian and Nepalese-Lamaist objects nos. I.M. 44 to 137-1910 purchased from Messrs Baillie and Gardner, The Baillie Gallery, 13 Burton Street, London, W. for £445.11.6.
