TODI RAGINI Opaque watercolour and gold paint on paper Awadh c. 1780 IM.94-1922 The musical mode Todi ragini is represented by a lady with deer in a forest, although the links between this subject and the music is not clear. The unusual and less polished style of this painting suggests that it was made away from the main Awadhi centres of Lucknow and Faizabad.(27/9/2013)
