Archer's Thumb Ring

17th century to 18th century (made)
Place of origin

The archer's thumb ring made somewhere in the Indian subcontinent, probably in the 18th century, would have been used to protect the wearer from abrasion or injury that could be inflicted by the bowstring when the arrow is released. This ring exhibits the typical surface crazing that amber often suffers on long-exposed surfaces due the loss of volatile components.
