Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This chintz and gilded cover was made specifically for a chair-seat, with two oblongs marked to indicate where the chair back would be attached. The garland borders would hang down the sides of the seat and match up at the corners. It was made on a length of cloth with five other identical covers (now in the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto and the Calico Museum of Textiles, Ahmedabad). None of the set was ever used.
