Cross
1400-1500 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
During the Mass, a cross was placed on the altar. The saints engraved on the arms of this cross are mainly Franciscans, like Anthony of Padua and Louis of Toulouse. This suggests that the cross comes from a Franciscan church. Although the Franciscans advocated poverty, Francis himself allowed showy altar furnishings.
