This relief is made by J.W. Bentley in Britain in ca. 1863. It is a reduced copy of a terracotta relief acquired by the Museum in 1861 as a work by Luca della Robbia (1400-1482), which has only recently been identified as a nineteenth-century forgery, possibly by Giovanni Bastianini (1830-1868). The ivory was a prize object in the Society of the Arts exhibition of 1863. Nothing more is known of the artist.
