This is a brass medal designed by Christian Schnitzpahn and manufactured by The Berlin Medallic Mint of G. Loos in Berlin. The medal is signed and dated 1860, and representing Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom.

This medal was commissioned by Christiana (now Oslo) University to celebrate the Coronation of Charles XV of Norway and Sweden, and his consort Louisa. The prolific die-sinking establishment in Berlin set up by Gottfried Bernhard Loos employed innumerable designers. The firm continued to flourish under the same name for many years after the death of its founder.
