Figure of a guardian lion (chinthe) carved in sandalwood (?). The treatment is haracteristic of Burmese guardian lions (chinthe), which often line the approach to Buddhist temples and monasteries. The lion's mouth is slightly open, its tongue is extended, and its mane, tail, and limbs point upwards.
