Brooch

1870-1900 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Circular silver brooch, partially gilded, which appears to have been constructed from elements of other pieces. It consists of an outer ring of flat sheet silver, decorated on the front with a circle of coil rings. The central hole has been filled with what was originally probably a hollow domed button of gilded sheet silver, decorated on the front with two concentric circles of applied coil rings surrounding a central coil ring. The button rests on a flat circle of silver decorated with coil rings. These central elements are all backed by a disc of sheet silver attached to the outer ring by four tabs. There is a brooch spring fitting attached to the back of the outer ring.
