Brief description
Oval silver reliquary case on a long chain, Valencia (Spain), 1865-1870.
Physical description
Oval silver reliquary case, with religious engravings on each side. On the hinged opening of the front is the Cross on the hill of Calvary, surrounded by a ladder and a sponge on a stick; and on the back is a flaming heart pierced by two arrows. There is a band of spiral twisted ribbon wire round the edge of the case. At the top is a small motif of pierced silver with a loop for suspension. On the inside of the back of the case are a few haphazard engravings of leaves and flowers. There is a long heavy chain attached to the loop at the top of the case.
