2. L: 50.5 cm 3. Approx. 8.7 x 11 cm
Pair of boy's drawers (1), of white knitted cotton with a deep
corset-style adjustable waistband of white linen. The drawers have
straight legs and an open fly front; the waistband, which is corded,
extends down over the abdomen and fastens at the front with stitched
buttonholes and four linen-bound buttons, and at the back the
adjustable gusset is laced up with a length of cotton tape (2). A
hand-written card (3) which was pinned to the garment reads:
"Something Old. Pair of little Pants worn by the late King Edward
when he was Prince of Wales - they are marked with the Prince of
Wales' Feathers & came from the Royal Nurseries at Windsor Castle.

Object history
References: Other garments of the prince's: T.20,21-1933 (dress &
sash) and T.7 & A-1969 (boots).


Said to have been worn by Queen Victoria's eldest son
Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (1841-1910). The
bequestor was a relative of the Bowes-Lyon family, and
was apparently given the garment by a relation who was a
Lady of the Bedchamber.
