The box takes the form of a compressed pyramid with flattened edges. It opens by means of a hinge along the longest side. The exterior polished, the interior has been left in the rough. The lid and base are decorated with inlaid gold in a geometrical design. The gold pattern on the lid exactly reverses that on the base.
