Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Teak chest, with wrought iron mounts, pierced, the single, fairly flimsy lock and decorative red cloth backing for the pierced mounts suggests that this coffer was not used for transporting precios (sic) items but in a wealthy household for storing small prized objects. The front flap conceals false drawers and a false bottom. The turned feet appear to be later additions.
