A fine example of Gothic revival work, popular from c. 1840, in which Gothic forms like lancets, quatrefoils and animals are mingled and their characteristics exaggerated. Notice the dragons around the lock, their tails joined in a love knot and the dachshund-like creatures supporting the casket.
