Wrought iron chest padlock, an unusually large and elaborate version of a standard Spanish type. Pierced and engraved with monsters or animals, foliage and a lion with open jaws. The two loops are bolted to the chest. The padlock is passed through the two loops and secured by a third loop forming the lock which is released by operating the key.

An unusually large and elaborate version of a standard Spanish type. Dated on the basis of the design being very similar that engraved on gun locks of the same period. Pierced and engraved with monsters or animals, foliage and a lion with open jaws. The two loops are bolted to the chest. The padlock is passed through the two loops and secured by a third loop forming the lock which is released by operating the key.
