Key, brass, gilded, with the crowned monogram of King William II and Mary.Key. England, ca. 1670-1700
Physical description
Chamberlain’s key. Gilt brass. Cypher of William III and Mary II. English; 1689-1694. Bow cast in openwork and chased with the monarch’s cypher flanked by the lion and unicorn, facing outwards, and surmounted by a crown. The stem formed by four openwork scrolls with a beaded bar in the middle. Words formed by openwork scrolls.
