This pendant was bought at Murcia around 1860, when it was described as 17th-century Spanish. The marks show that it is more likely to be Portuguese work, from the second half of the 18th century.

Physical description | Small pendant, consisting of an oval facetted case of rock crystal in a gold frame. The rock crystal contains a tiny flat figure of a monstrance made from sheet gold. The frame consists of plain filigree scrolls, with loops of ribbon wire at the top, bottom and sides, and a flat loop at the top for suspension. There is a ring of grooved ribbon wire threaded through the suspension loop. |
