These were bought for £1 14s. (the pair) at the International Exhibition, London, 1872. They were described as typical of the traditional jewellery worn in Touraine, but there is nothing characteristic about them. They are more typical of the type of jewellery bought by English visitors to France at the time.

Brief description | Pair of silver-gilt pendant earrings set with lapis lazuli and pearls, France, 1860-1870. |
Physical description | Pair of three-part silver-gilt pendant earrings. Each part has a central mount set with a conical piece of lapis, surrounded by filigree scrolls. The central part also has a small pearl, in a closed mount, above and below the lapis. The backs of the mounts are decorated with an engraved geometric design. The top part is attached to a curved wire. |
