Brief description
Gilt metal filigree pendant set with amethyst pastes and seed pearls, France, 1860-1870.
Physical description
Gilt metal pendant, consisting of a large oval amethyst paste set in a frame of open filigree scrolls. There are three (formerly four) smaller amethyst pastes set in the filigree frame, and nine (formerly ten) seed pearls. There are three matching drop-shaped pendants hanging from the lower edge, each set with an amethyst paste and a seed pearl. The bale at the top of the pendant is made in the same style, and set with amethyst pastes and seed pearls. It has a large curved hook on the back.
