South German (probably Frankfurt); about 1475
This coat of arms was intended to form part of a memorial to Heidelberger who was a prominent Frankfurt goldsmith. Such figures not only ran workshops producing objects of the type seen in this case but also were persons of some standing within their own urban communities and often significant in their own right.
