Ring

Place of origin

This ring was acquired by the Museum in 1871 as part of a large collection of rings which had been assembled by the Victorian scholar Edmund Waterton. It was believed at that time to be 17th-century Albanian but may be later. Old-style rings remained in use in the Balkans, as part of traditional costume, up to the early 20th century.
