Soft Toy

1996 (made)

Basic conical shape with broad base rounded to allow the clown to rock. As it rocks or tumbles the internal bells jangle. The body of the clown is made of 3 horizontal stripes of brushed cotton fabric in green, red and yellow with yellow arms and white hands raised. The face is flesh coloured fabric with the facial features machine embroidered in red, white and black. Around the neck is a red and white polyester satin ribbon and on the head a yellow pointed hat with red trim and 3 blue embroidered spots.
The whole figure is stuffed with polyester fibre. Cloth label is sewn into back seam and card label attached to this by a plastic stripe.

*This is an example of a contemporary commercially produced toy designed for very young children. Other examples are the Ambi version and one designed by Patrick Rylands, made of plastic.
