Simon Benetton (b.1933) was born in Treviso Italy. He started his career working in his father, Antonio Benetton's workshop at an early age, later attending the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. He has taught sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Macerata. At the time this object was made, he was running his own workshop in Treviso.

Brief description
Steel maquette for a sculpture, Italy, Treviso, 1981, made by Simon Benetton.
Physical description
A flat sheet of Cor Ten steel plate, twisted and cut with an oxyacetylene gas cutter. A triangular steel sheet, one side and the top cut into ribbons, the side folded in the opposite direction to the top in contrasting curves. At the base, a steel spigot for a base support.
