Carved and gilded pinewood with black marble top, English, 1745-55. RF:70/1613
Physical description
Console table of carved and gilded pinewood. The black marble top has a serpentine outline is supported on two legs of pronounced cabriole form with shellwork edges. The stretcher is ornamented with a dog's head and paw in profile, painted black and surrounded by leaves. A portion of the carved foliage surrounding the dog's head on the stretcher is broken off and missing.
