Mains radio set, wooden case with Bakelite control knobs. The central speaker is a vertical rectangle, backed with a fabric grille, framed with black Bakelite. It has three vertical Bakelite bars, stepped outwards towards their bases where they meet a horizontal Bakelite bar. The speaker is flanked by two vertical tuning scales (LW to the left, MW to the right), extending below the bottom of the speaker, each framed with black Bakelite. There is a small, deeply recessed rectangle below the speaker for a 'magic eye' (electron-ray indicator tube). Beneath this, arranged in a semi-circle, are four hexagonal control knobs. The cabinet stands on four low feet in each corner. The Marconi trade mark is on top. The back of the set is made from fibreboard, with diamond-shaped ventilation grilles.

Purchased by the Circulation Department in 1976, from Gustav Metzger [76/1940]. On entry to the Museum its condition was noted as 'all veneered surfaces scratched, piece of veneer missing from front right side'.
