Dressing Mirror

Mirror, dressing mirror made of wood lacquered black with gold decoration, partly in relief. The original mirror plate has flat bevelled borders and a shaped, arched top. It has a moulded frame, swinging on up-rights with shaped finials. The lower portion is in the form of a desk with a sloping front, the flap being supported on runners when open.

The desk is fitted with a centre compartment framed in pilasters, and has two pigeon holes with arched tops and six drawers. Below the flap is a drawer of serpentine form fitted with compartments painted red and containing four boxes, a clothes brush and tray, all lacquered to match the mirror.

The decoration consists of landscapes, figures and sprays of flowers. The mirror has two engraved brass escutcheons.
