Brief description | Close stool, deal with ebonised and inlaid decoration, England, 1870-90, Lamb of Manchester, (RF:88/530) |
Physical description | Commode of deal, with ebonized and inlaid decoration in mahogany, ebony and boxwood, with a dark red velvet upholstered top. White glass inset in the lower side of the lid and a damaged white earthenware pot. It rests on bracket feet with an ebonized moulding above. The canted corners are ebonized and the top has an ebonized moulding on the edge. The front has an ebonized edged panel with a band of mahogany and a band of checquer work marquetry in ebony and boxwood. The sides are of plain panelled construction. The back is plain. |
