[20th century gallery] DRESSING TABLE Designed by Leonard Thoday (British) Made for Heal's Ltd., London, Great Britain, 1932 Chrome-plated tubular steel and glass W.36-1977 Although derived from German and French tubular steel furniture, this design employs the material for its decorative qualities. Its properties are not exploited in a reduced structure but rather used to create elaboration. This approach was typical of tubular steel furniture manufactured in Britain.
