Pair of stirrups, each made of a solid piece of wood hollowed out and carved, and mounted with silver. Each is carved in front and on the sides with delicate scrollwork and conventional ornament upon a dotted ground. In front is also a silver escutcheon repoussée with a rococo border, and each of the four corners has a similarly decorated mount; a long strengthening band of the same material is fastened round the top, sides and base. In the neck is a small hole, through which passes a strap with a buckle at the end; round each strap is a silver tube

Physical description

Object history
Bought for £8 from A. Bullard, Esq., Tickford Lodge, Newport Pagnell (RF23535/1899). No. 544a has lost a knob at one of the lower corners
