The submarine is lithographed tinplate and the mechanism is housed in the body. It is white and light blue with green, gold and red markings. The underside is black. There is a clear red plastic dome on the top and the funnel is white plastic. Representations of guns are toward the front. When working the submarine moves on two wheels set under the body and connected to the mechanism; there is a balancing wheel at the front end. The mechanism also operates a spark under the plastic dome which flickers and makes a noise.
