This clockwork operated duck has an internal mechanism. When wound up the duck appears to be paddling, as it moves on two central wheels which are connected to the mechanism. This toy was made in China for the local market rather than for export.

Lithographed tinplate clockwork duck made in China in the 1970s
Physical description
The duck is lithographed tinplate and the mechanism is housed in the body with the key hole on the left side. It is dark pink, yellow and blue with red, green and white markings. The legs and feet are metal with the top ends attached to the wheels. When wound up the duck moves on two wheels set under the centre area and connected to the mechanism. The feet appear to be paddling.
