Convex wall mirror, carved pinewood frame with gesso decoration modelled and gilt. Circular frame decorated with a concave border with spaced balls of gilt gesso in full relief, a narrower inner border of lotus pattern in low relief and a concentrically fluted lining black ebonised wood. The cresting is in the form of a waisted and diapered plinth sustaining the figure of an eagle displayed, with a pair of gilt gesso balls dependant from the beak my a metal chain. At the vertex is a shell motif flanked by scrolls; and dependant from the centre, an inverted pineapple device.

Object history | Given by Eric Browett in memory of his wife. Mr Browett gave more than twenty pieces of English furniture, mostly of the second half of the eighteenth century (W.46 to W.74-1937). Most of the pieces were shown together in Gallery 44 on first acquisition (neg. no. 77456).
