Oblong case containing a scale and weights. The scales are of iron with brass pans and weights and the case is pear wood, inlaid with mother-of-pearl, bone and brass. The case has a brass catch and hinged lid decorated with a rosette and scrolls terminating in flowers; the interior is stamped with crosses and circles and has two sliding lids covering compartments for weights. The scales have one triangular and one circular pan hung by green cords. There are ten weights, one circular, struck from a die: Obv.: I.R.MA.BRIT. Portrait of James 1st to the right.
Rev: XXII's surmounted by a crown. Three others are of cast brass engraved with symbols, and the remainder of sheet brass, some stamped with a crowned C and others with a crowned L.
