ca. 1980 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Woven band of blue and black wool forming a stripe down each side. Next to this, on each side, is a stripe of alternate blocks of red and orange. The central stripe, which contains a series of geometric motifs, is woven with white wool and the mixture of blue and black. The weft is brown wool. The band is attached at one end to a roughly carved wooden block or buckle by two leather straps which are stitched onto the fabric. The whole length can be wound onto this block for easy storage. Three plaited tassels hang from the other end, and are tied with orange wool at the bottom. One plait is white, blue and black, and the other two also contain red and orange.

Used for tying a load onto a camel during migration.
