Object history
Registered File number 1985/326. The source for this and other embroideries in the set (see T.118 to T.124-1985) is unknown. In 1863 Edward Burne-Jones produced a design for a set of embroidered panels (Whitworth Art Gallery D.73.1927 verso) for his home at 62 Great Russell Street. The frieze depicts Arthurian figures and this panel corresponds with the figure of 'Morgan le Fay' in the design. It is likely that the panel was embroidered by Georgiana Burne-Jones or another member of the Burne-Jones family.
