Place of origin |
Tapestry-woven wristlet strap woven by hand. Tapestry-woven with coloured threads in a pattern based on a stepped lozenge form. The lozenges, in alternating colours of blue, red and purple, reach the sides of the strap but are divided from one another along its length by a zig-zag band of buff colour. The two-stepped triangles left on the sides of the lozenge, not touched by this band, are filled in with pale blue and green. Small slits are left between the steps dividing the different areas of colour.
At one end of the strap, the last lozenge is cut in half and flanked by a triangle only on one side. On the truncated side, narrow bands of purple, pale blue, blue and green, divided by bands of buff colour, make a firm end to the design. At the buckle end, the lozenge and triangle design is continued into the length turned under at the back.
The square buckle is of hand-beaten silver with a design of raised and indented spots.
