Handkerchief with a Valenciennes lace border from the 18th century and made up later. With a centre of fine lawn embroidered in one corner with the initials 'MX'. Bordering this is a half-inch strip of bobbin-made net to which the Valenciennes lace border has been attached. The lace has been very skillfully cut and joined at the four corners. It has a pattern of flowerheads and cartouches with various fillings, and a very slightly scalloped outer edge with picot edging. It is 2.75 inches deep (maximum).
