DRESS Machine-knitted heavy-weight viscose French, Paris: Azzedine Alaia, 1985 Knee length, form fitting dress with high neck and buttoned fastening at the back. The back has a complex structure of shaped panels. Azzedine Alaia's carefully structured and immaculately executed work has certain characteristics which seem to be particularly French - many knitted clothes by top Paris designers are plain and carefully cut and moulded to the body. In comparison, English knitting emphasises pattern and texture and on the whole, shapes tend to be bulkier. Given by Monsieur Azzedine Alaia T.375-1985(1985)
